The Easter holiday is set to be alive as upcoming gospel artist Wadzanai Murebwa Dzamatira (WMD),is set to release new music . Today News (TN) sat down with the bubbly singer to unpack on her musical journey.

TN: Who is Wadzanai Murebwa Dzamatira?
WMD: She is married woman, who originally comes from Gweru, I did my primary education at St Paul’s Primary in Mkoba, then proceeded to do my high school at Nagle House Girls High in Marondera and later on varsity at the University of Zimbabwe.

TN: WHEN did you realise you had a gift?
WMD: I think I was in Grade 4 when we had a Class Talent Show and my teacher loved my voice and the way I was dancing to a song by a popular South African artist, she actually called other teachers to come to see me perform in our class.

After my A’ level’s, in 2009 I met DJ Tamuka, when he was in Gweru and we recorded some music which we never released because I had to leave for varsity. I have been in this industry though I wasn’t serious about it because of other commitments.

TN: What inspires you to sing?
WMD: My inspiration comes from within. I just love music. I believe that my gospel songs are inspired by the Holy Spirit Himself when it comes to the lyrical content.I really enjoy music creation, especially when it comes out naturally. I am in to gospel music but I have sang other genres as well.

TN: How many songs have you recorded so far? Any albums?
WMD: I have recorded 10 songs so far but I have released 4 songs namely Ndimi zvose, Munyasha, Ishee and Ndovimba Nemi. I have released singles, no albums as yet. For now, I haven’t done any live shows, though I am looking forward to my first invitation to perform at Zaoga Southerton as the guest of artist over the Easter holiday.

TN: Any visuals for the singles?
WMD: Yes I have recently done my first music video called, Ngatimurumbidze which I featured Papa Jimmy and I am looking forward to dropping another video by end of March this year. I would like to thank Leisure for the work he put in to the video production and choreography. And I would like to thank Charity Mutsvene and Wilmer Warinda the two stylists who dressed me for the Ngatimurumbidze video. On the production side, I am currently working with Tanya Kasmiro, whose professionalism has grown my brand extensively.

TN: Any parting words to our readers?
WMD: I am grateful to my fans, they are receiving and appreciating my music positively since I started posting my songs on social media platforms. I am grateful.

TN: How can people get in touch with you?
WMD: My facebook page is Wawie Music
