ZCTU set the record straight
Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions has set the record straight following the disturbances that transpired during the May Day commemorations involving Mr Gift Siziba at Gwanzura Stadium. The ZCTU Secretary General, in a bid to clear the air on what happened during the commemorations issued the statement. "Mr Siziba came to the stadium late and through his emissaries asked for a slot to speak on behalf of CCC , after being told that the ZCTU had made a decision not to allow political parties to speak. Moreso, after the ZCTU President had spoken he decided to leave the stadium in the middle of President Mucha Taruvinga's speech distracting attetion of the crowd,''said Japhet Moyo. He added that some are of the notion that he left because the ZCTU President has used the mantra [NYIKA INOVAKWA NEVENE VAYO] . It is unfortunate that spinners are claiming that he left because the ZCTU President had used the mantra [NYIKA INOVAKWA NEVENE VAYO] , it is also mischievous to twist the context in which the ZCTU President refered to the mantra and he said the following; [THE MANTRA NYIKA INOVAKWA NEVE VAYO IS INDEED RESONATING TO THE INCLUSIVE ZIMBABWE THAT WE ALL WANT .BUT DOES THAT HAPPEN WITH THE LEVEL OF INEQUALITIES THAT ARE CURRENTLY OBTAINING WHERE THE CITIZENRY IS LOOKING TO THE SO-CALLED MBINGAS FOR CRUMBS.HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THE SITUATION WHERE AN INDIVIDUAL HAVE ACCESS TO MILLIONS OF DOLLARS THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE IT EXCEPT DISHING OUT WHEN WORKERS CANNOT ARFORD ONE DECENT MEAL OR SEND CHILDREN TO GOVERNMENT SCHOOL.WE HAVE SEEN ELDERLY SELLING ANYTHING TO FEED THEMSELVES AND THEIR GREAT-GREAT CHILDREN WHEN SOME PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE MONEY],''She said. ''However for the record over the years the ZCTU has been inviting political parties that have Parliamentary representatives to its commemorations .This year we invited all political parties with Paliamentary representatives and all of them where in attandance and we did not accord them opportunity to speak leading to Mr. Siziba's early departure. We expect decorum of our guests they should respect our protocols and programmes,''he said
