The People's Truth Commission on the Constitutional Amendment launched

A new commission by the people has been launched by the name the People's Truth Commission on the Constitutional Amendment and it is led by Godfrey Matadi who is the convener.

The Ministry of Justice through the Minister Hon Ziyambi Ziyambi proposed a series of changes to the Constitution of Zimbabwe under the bill known as Constitutional Amendment Bill No3(CAB3).

The Bill has been widely rejected by the People's Truth Commission that has described the public hearings as a sham. The commission launched on 21 April 2026 rejects the components of the bill and it says the bill is intended to deprive the people of the one man-one vote which was the basis of the liberation struggle.

The People's Truth Commission on the Constitutional Amendment is supported by a number of opposition parties including Zvido Zvevanhu People's Party, the Movement for Democratic Change - Tsvangirai , FreeZim Congress and UZA.

The Commission is after the creation of a national unified body. There is a petition called ,"One million voices for democracy," that is being signed and led by Godfrey Matadi.

The Commission intends to stop the Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3(CAB3). The Bill has been rejected by many opposition figures. The People's Truth Commission on the Constitutional Amendment decided to organize this commission because the CAB3 is actively before Parliament and the Constitution is under direct assault.

The six political parties that are part of the commission are accompanied by a diaspora organization, ZCC and many other invited civil society organizations.

The People's Truth Commission encourages the public to know their rights under Sections 1,59,67 and 328(7)

Others leaders that support the initiative includes Morgan Komichi, Fambi, Joseph Busha, Elisabeth Valerio, and Chigugu. All are supporting the commission and want to see that CAB3 is stopped.

The People's Truth Commission on the Constitutional Amendment wants to educate the public through community outreach , media , legal literacy and call to action.

It has been a tense situation in Zimbabwe over the Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3 because not everyone supports the bill and there has been a call that there should be a referendum.

The people have the mandate to decide what happens in their country. They need to be involved in decision making that makes the country a democracy.
