Producer campaigns against early child marriages

Midlands Music producer at Artform Records Mica Pazvinhu campaigns against early child marriages through a music riddim called Chengetedzai Mwanasikana that will be launched next month.

In an interview with this publication Mica Pazvinhu real name Mike Svosvera said this riddim is aimed at challenging the mindset that says the girl child is of lesser value than her male counterparts.

"I was worried about the way the girl child is being treated especially in mining towns, so I decided to do a riddim where artists will record songs educating people about the value of the girl child,'' he said. He went on to say that what worries him the most is most girls are not reaching high school due to pregnacy which will ultimately lead to them being married off at a tender age. "At grade 7 fewer and fewer girls from my town will enroll for high school due to pregnancy ,others will fall into prostitution because parents cannot afford fees and these incidents are not being reported to the police as a result of lack of knowledge, men need to be taught to value the girl child to see her as an asset not as a sex object,''he said.

He however said the riddim will launched through live shows and are targeting rural areas around the province ,he is honored by the number of male artists supporting this project.
I am happy with number of male artists on this riddim and I want to show people how serious we are as artists to end early child marriages through shows that will be done around the Midlands province ,''said Pazvinhu.
