PCS has embarked on a 5 day certification
The Public Service Commission has embarked on a 5-day Certification of Disciplinary Committee Members Service Wide trainning across the public sector at ZIPAM. The workshop was officially opened by Secretary to Service Commissions represented General Manager Mr.R. Samanjese. This Workshop is meant to capacitate and certify H.R. practitioners who lead Disciplinary Committees to demonstrate public sector transformation, good governance and essential skills as well as for practitioners to be up to date with industry developments and best practice. In her adress the Secretary Dr.T.R. Choruma-Dozwa expressed concern at the rise in disciplinary cases in public sector, from 216 in 2022 to 387 in 2023. 87 percent of the 46 appealed cases had been lost at the Labour Court with success only in 6 cases appealed therefore the compelling need to arm disciplinary committees,''said Dr Choruma. Disciplnary commitees are entrusted with investigating and hearing miscoduct cases which called for the inculcation of consciousness amongst public servants that they are always accountable for their misbehaviours and even inaction,''said Dr Choruma.
