Madzibaba Benji shocked by child marriages at Umristur Primary School
In shocking news the Guest of Honor at Umristur Primary School E.C.D Graduation ceremony , Madzibaba Benji was told that five Grade Seven pupils eloped while learning at the school and this was disheartening for the teachers and community.
Madzibaba Benji of the Johane Masowe eChishanu apostolic sect was shocked to hear that young children are being married off at the age of 12 or 13 years in his district.
The Johane Masowe eChishanu leader, Madzibaba Benji was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony of E.C.D pupils who are going to Grade One next year.
The school is located in Goromonzi District in Mashonaland East. Umristur Primary School lacks support and appeals for assistance.
Umristur Primary School is facing many challenges including no payment of fees, no electricity at the school, poor infrastructure ,accommodation for teachers , lack of water supply and underage child marriages.
"The school has not been electrified as a result of this, our pupils are behind interms of meeting the global demands of technology," said the Deputy Headmaster.
The Deputy Headmaster reiterated that there is a challenge of underage child marriages disturbing young girls to complete their basic education which is a fundamental right as enshrined in the constitution of Zimbabwe.
Madzibaba Benji continues to support local children in Goromonzi District as he purchased a uniform for one of the pupils. Madzibaba is on record in supporting children as he has paid school fees for some of the children in the district. His call against child marriages in the district is going strong and the five girls that dropped out of school was disheartening for him.
The event ended on a lighter note when Madzibaba Benji invited people for his birthday celebration on the 17th of January 2026.
"This year I have chosen that I want to do my birthday at Umristur ground or the Chabwino ground. People who are coming should wear jerseys of their favourite teams and skirts. No trousers especially for women. It is the birthday of the church leader," said Madzibaba Benji.
