Hon Bvute and Madzibaba Benji guests at Howson Primary School
Yesterday parents , pupils and guests converged at Howson Primary School for the annual Speech and Prize Giving Day and the local Member of Parliament Hon Bvute and Madzibaba Benji were distinguished guests.
The day was full of joy and jubilation. Both parents and pupils were excited for their big day. There were various guests who graced the occasion including the village headman Sabhuku Mbizi.
"We want to encourage children to go to school. Your school resemble life. I have heard that your pass rate is above 60%. I took account of the challenges you are facing as a school including houses for teachers," said Hon Bvute
Hon Bvute reiterated that he is going to support the school with an income generating project. He is going to assist with the building material for a chicken run and donate 1000 chicks.
Madzibaba Benji of the Johane Masowe eChishanu gave a speech that highlighted the progress of the school and the challenges the school is currently facing and encouraged the students to believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Madzibaba Benji is one of the community leaders that believes in the power of education. He supports President E.D Mnangagwa education policy. He is determined to teach young children the importance of education , to stop drug and substance abuse , to end child marriages and to end Gender Based Violence (GBV).
The Johane Masowe eChishanu leader Madzibaba Benji's remarks come at a time when the world is about to embark on the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV).
"I want to pay school fees for the girl that greeted me. She is respectful. When I arrived a girl greeted me. It shows the quality of education found at this school," said Madzibaba Benji.
Madzibaba has shown humility and love for the people of Goromonzi North Constituency and Howson Primary School. Madzibaba Benji made a donation of 50 t-shirts to the school.
In an interview with the headmaster of the school Mr Karimazondo, he indicated what the school needs.The school needs textbooks for the new curriculum and also internet to support the teaching and learning activities.
The District School Inspector from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Mrs Kafeso said that Howson Primary School is one of the best schools in Goromonzi district. She encouraged parents to support the school and the classrooms that need to be built because there are 6 classes that learn outside.
"We want to thank the parents for paying their fees. We are appealing to the parents who can assist us to build the facilities that the school needs. We are working together as one team with the headmaster," said SDC Chairmain Mr Sixpence.
Moonlight National Sales Manager Mr Sanganza was also a guest and other representives from Moonlight.Mr Sanganza said that we have come to support the school. He emphasized the issue of a decent burial when one dies. It is important to have a funeral policy and said that people should prepare in the event of death. Moonlight is one of the funeral policy companies in Zimbabwe and has multiple branches across the country.
The pupils were excited especially those who won prizes. In a conversation with one of the Grade 6 pupils , he said that he wants to pass his Grade 7 examinations with flying colours.
The school is supported by excellent and dignified teachers. They carry the torch of knowledge and pass it to the pupils. The school is a light to the community and giving service to the community.
One of the teachers Mrs Munyonga lead the Prize Giving proceedings and presented prizes together with the Guest of Honor Hon O. Bvute.
The event was a success and the parents , pupils and guests enjoyed the day. The Guest of Honor Hon Bvute provided drinks for the event.
A special award was given to two pupils who were outstanding in academics, sport and cultural activities. Hon Bvute said that the award would be given to two pupils ever year . The special award entails that the awarded would get their school fees paid for up to tertiary education by Hon Bvute. Hon Bvute will personally pay for the fees as he said he will take them as his children.
The scholarship by Hon Bvute is an act of giving back to the community. This is the same gesture that is being done by Madzibaba Benji of assisting the people in the community. Patience Majero was a pupil that Madzibaba Benji paid for her school fees.
Virtu Trade will also assist the school together with Hon Bvute. Hon Bvute highlighted that the two will partner in upcoming projects at the school.
