First Lady rolls out school feeding programme

First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa dished out a school feeding programme for primary school pupils drawn from Epworth, Mabvuku and Tafara with the aim to curb malnutrition.

This programme is aimed at giving school going kids a nutritious balance diet so that they will not suffer from kwashiorkor.

"I served food which included traditional dishes and the initiative is aimed at supplementing these children with nutritious food and also curbing absenteeism due to hunger, ‘said first lady while addressing at the event.

She went on to say that with this programme will ensure that children stay healthy. The programme was also meant to address youth and school goers on dangers associated with drug abused.

"I believe this will ensure children stay healthy in school and I also interacted with children on the dangers of drug abuse. I also urged the children to desist from drugs as it destroys their future,'' said the First Lady.

The first lady has been a patron of youth development and girl child empowerment since the establishment of Angel of hope foundation.

The official food programme in the high density suburb of Mabvuku, Epworth and Tafara is one of many works that have been put to ground by the first lady.
